    Flash Gordon…. 70’lerde Uzay Yayınları ve Tay Yayınları, günümüzde de Büyülü Çizgi’den çıkan maceralarıyla bilim kurgu çizgi roman severlerin eski bir dostudur.
    Amerikan pop kültüründe derin izler bırakmış ünlü çizgi roman karakteri, bilim kurgu kahramanı. Çeşitli çizer ve yazarlar tarafından bugüne kadar kesintisiz üretilen "Flash Gordon" serilerinin ilk macerası 1934'te Alex Raymond'un çizgileriyle yayınlandı. Bir yıl sonra radyo tiyatrosuna, zaman içinde sinema, televizyon dizisi ve çizgi film serisi de dahil birçok farklı alana uyarlandı.

    Yale üniversitesi mezunu, polo oyuncusu asilzade Steven 'Flash' Gordon'un bir süper kahraman olarak atıldığı bilimkurgu maceraları, dünyayı ateşe veren meteor yağmurlarıyla başlar. Çılgın bilimci Dr. Hans Zarkov, uzaydan gelen meteorların kaynağına ulaşmak için bir uzay gemisi inşa eder..Ancak böyle bir seyahati tek başına yapmak istememektedir. Üstün yeteneklerine inandığı Flash ve güzel sevgilisi Dale Arden'i kaçıran Dr. Zarkov, onlarla birlikte uzayın derinliklerindeki Mongo gezegenine doğru yola çıkar.

    Maceracı üçlü, Mongo İmparatoru Amansız Ming'in meteorları dünyaya karşı bir silah olarak kullandığını keşfeder ve "uzay savaşı" başlar. Mongo'daki Ming muhaliflerinin dünyalılardan yana tavır koyduğu bir savaşta antik tragedyanın dinamikleri uzaya taşınmıştır: Şeytan ruhlu Ming, Flash'ı yok edip, Dale Arden ile evlenmeyi arzularken, Ming'in kızı Prenses Aura da Flash'e aşık olur...

    "Uzay Yolu", "Superman", "Yıldız Savaşları" başta olmak üzere bilimkurgu sinemasının birçok yapıtına öncülük eden "Flash Gordon" 1938'den itibaren defalarca filme çekildi. 1980'de İngiliz yönetmen Mike Hodges'ın yaptığı film bunlar arasında en çok iz bırakan oldu. Müziği Queen tarafından bestelenip, icra edilen ve albüm haline getirilen "Flash Gordon" filminde, başroldeki çiftten çok, Ming'i canlandıran Max Von Sydow, Prenses Aura rolündeki Ornella Muti ve Aura'nın aşığı Prens Barin rolüyle Timothy Dalton'un öne çıkması dikkat çekiciydi.

    Flash Gordon, çizgi roman olarak ilk defa, Sunday Strips ve Daily Strips olmak üzere gazetelerde yayınlanmaya başladı.
    Strip formatı haricinde, bu sevilen kahramanın maceraları, Amerika’da değişik yayınevleri tarafından albümler halinde yayınlanmıştır.
    Türkiye’de Gordon’u en son olarak ve yazar çizerine göre orijinal sıralaması ile yayınlayan Büyülü Çizgi, Alex Raymond çizimlerini hiç yayınlamamıştır. Alex Raymond hariç tüm Daily Strips serisini yayınlamış, Sunday Strips serisini ise ekonomik koşullar dolayısı ile S-154’e kadar yayınlayabilmiş ve son ciltte yaptığı bir açıklama ile Flash Gordon yayınına son verdiğini açıklamıştır. Bu açıklama ile, bu serinin tamamıyla yayınlanması hayalini kuran başta ben olmak üzere tahmin ediyorum bir sürü çizgi roman sever, büyük hayal kırıklığına uğramıştır.
    Bu serinin bir şekilde bitirilmesi ve severleri ile buluşturulması gerekiyor diyerek (Acaba ne demek istedim?) sözüme bir süreliğine ara veriyorum.

    Gordon'un yayın hayatına devam etmemesi büyük bir hayal kırıklığıydı hepimiz için.Çok büyük bir proje bizler için.Şimdiden kolay gelsin.
    Gordon Tay Yayınları dönemi gerçekten efsane bir dönemdi.Okumak için yarıştığımız zamanlardı.Sonraki dönemlerde hep bekledik yeniden yayın hayatına devam etmesi açısından ancak Demirbaş Yayıncılıkta kısa süreli bir dönem yer bulabildi sonrasında malum son.
    Emeği geçen bütün değerli dostlara çok teşekkür ederiz.
    Seçim vaatleri arasında olsa kesinlikle aday tercihimi değiştireceğim bir çalışma.

    Bildiğiniz gibi, Alex Raymond çizgileri dışında Daily Strips diye tabir edilen günlük bant dizisi, Büyülü Çizgi tarafından yayınlanmıştı. Sunday Strips'te ise Alex Raymond çizgileri yine yayınlanmadı. Diğer çizerlerin maceralarıda S155'e kadar yayınlandı. Sunday Strip (Pazar Bantları) orijinal serisinde en son yeni macera 29.09.2002 - 16.03.2003 tarihleri arasında yayınlanan S214 - Tournament of death macerasıdır. Sunday Strips maceraları Amerika'da günümüzde de devam etmekte olup, belirttiğim tarih ve maceradan bu yana tamamı Jim Keefe'ye ait olan tekrar maceralardır.

    Biz, TR'de yayınlanmamış olan S155-S214 arası maceraları (ki bunların içinde de atlayacağımız bazı tekrar maceralar vardır) -, yayınlamak üzere kolları sıvamıştık. Bunların 5 adedini yayınladık, altıncısı yayın aşamasında.

    Hal böyleyken bizi sevindiren bir gelişme oldu.: Sevgili Virtualman ve sevgili Forumcekadam'ın Gordon yayını ile ilgili olarak destek olma çabaları ile çift koldan çalışarak yayını hızlandırıyoruz.
